At 3:45 today, Patrick Patterson will break the hearts of two fanbases, and cause one to go ecstatic.
The last 48 hours have been a swirling maelstrom of rumors. Everyone thinks they know what he is going to do, but if you believe everyone, he will have to have 2 clones created. As it stands right now, Duke fans think he goes to Florida, Florida fans think he goes to Duke, and Kentucky fans think he goes to Kentucky. (Who wouldn't right? All big blue nation has to do is point to the recruit they want and he comes running, right?)
There have been reports of "inside information" from both the Florida and Duke Athletics Departments, and Alex Legion, a Kentucky commit, has been quoted as saying Patterson has eliminated Duke. (Legion never actually said that though, he said the same thing Patterson himself is quoted as, that Patterson is down to two. Who those two are is anyone's guess.)
I believe I saw an article quoting Patterson as saying that he had made his decision, but I can't find it again.
basically, it is a wait-and-see game right now, same as it always has been with this kid. Originally my gut said Florida, at some point I started to feel very confident that he would choose Duke. Now I am not so sure. I know I have no clue where he goes. I think that, based on what he and his parents have stated publicly about what he is looking for, that Duke is the best fit for him, but it isn't me making the decision for him. I am sure that Florida and Kentucky fans feel the same way.
I will say this much. I hope he chooses Duke. I think he will be successful wherever he chooses to go, and wish him the best of luck, even if he doesn't choose Duke, though.
But here's hoping.
